Patrick O'Hara

     Patrick O'Hara was born on 9 February 1888 at Oklahoma.^1,2 He was the son of Patrick O'Hara and Margaret Carson.¹

Patrick was enumerated with Patrick O'Hara on the census of 7 June 1900 at Weir, Cherokee County, Kansas, as Patrick O'Hara. He is a single white male 13 years old born Feb 1888 in Scotland as were both of his parents. He has been at school for 8 months.¹

Patrick was enumerated with Patrick O'Hara on the census of 22 April 1910 at Murray Township, Coal County, Oklahoma, as Patrick O'Hara Jr. He is a 22 year old single white male born in Scotland as were both of his parents. He works as a coal miner and was out of work for 12 weeks in 1909. He immigrated to the United States in 1887. He can read and wrote.³

Patrick O'Hara married Mabel Knisal, daughter of William Knisal and Myrtle (--?--), circa 1910.

Patrick was enumerated with Myrtle (--?--) on the census of 21 January 1920 at Forest Street, Girard, Crawford County, Kansas, as Patrick O'Hara. He is a 33 year old widowed white male born in Ireland as were both of his parents. He is enumerated as a son-in-law and is a coal miner.⁴

A second enumeration occurrs over a month later.

Patrick is head of household on the census of 26 February 1920 at West Antelope, Girard, Crawford County, Kansas, as Patrick O'Hara. He is a 30 year old married white male born in Kansas. He rents his home and works as a coal miner. Both of his parents were born in Ireland. Enumerated with him were Mabel Knisal, Patrick O'Hara and Marjorie M. O'Hara.⁴

Patrick is head of household on the census of 4 April 1930 at Bisbee, Cochise County, Arizona, as Patrick O'Hara. He is a 37 year old married white male born in Oklahoma. He rents his home at $14. Both of his parents were born in Scotland. He was first married when he was 17 years old and works as a copper miner. Enumerated with him were Mabel Knisal, Patrick O'Hara and Marjorie M. O'Hara.⁵

Patrick O'Hara died on 11 June 1941 at Schulter, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, at age 53.² He was buried on 13 June 1941 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Henryetta, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma.²

An obituary was in the Colgate Courier: Pat O'Hara Died June 11 At Schulter Pat O'Hara was born in Lehigh February 9, 1887 and died in Schulter, Okla. June 11, 1941 at the age of 54 years, four months and two days. He was reared in Lehigh and was well known in that community. He also resided in the Coalgate community, going from here to Schulter to make his home. He was bedfast for four months. He is survived by his wife and son, Pat, and daughter, Mrs. Margie Newsom, of Schulter besides other relatives. Mr and Mrs Pat O'Hara of Ada, Terry and John B. O'Hara, of Coalgate, attended the funeral services which were held at St. Michael Catholic church at Henryetta, Friday at 2:30 p.m. by Rev Rather Cawdron.²
