He works as a pit laborer. Enumerated in the household is a boarder John Waddell an 82 year old that works as a pit laborer. Enumerated with him were Susanna O'Hara, Isabella Conner, Patrick Conner, Catherine Conner, Jane Conner and Margaret Conner.²

He works as an ironstone laborer. Enumerated in the household are 4 boarders: John Clark, a 55 year old ironstone laborer born in Ireland and James O'Brien, a 50 year old railway surfaceman born in Ireland and his two sons, Patrick 8 years old and James 13 years old. Enumerated with him were Susanna O'Hara, Margaret Conner and John McGovern.³

He is a school cleaner. Enumerated in the house is a boarder John Clark, a 64 year old pit head laborer born in Ireland. Another boarder is Robert Mitchell, a 32 year old ironstone miner born in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire. Bella Connor is an 8 year old female born circa 1893 in England. She is enumerated as a grand daughter and is a scholar. Also enumerated is David Pringle, a 3 year old grandson born in Leith, Edinburghshire.
