An obituary was in the Pittsburg paper: Mrs Mary Harrigan Nivens, 59, a former resident of Scammon, died Sunday in Kansas City. A native resident of Scammon, Mrs Nivens moved to Kansas City in 1929. She was born in November of 1893 in Scammon. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs Florence Neal, Ferguson, Mo., one son, Hugh Nivens, Kansas City; four sisters, Mrs Blanch Gray, of Wichita, Mrs Loretta Wright, Los Angeles, Mrs Nell Priddy, Coffeyville and Mrs Elizabeth Carlson, Cherokee; two brothers, Joe Harrigan, Kansas City and Leo Harrigan of Scammon and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St Bridget's Catholic Church in Scammon. Father E.J. Steinberger will say the service. Burial will be in St Bridget's Cemetery. The rosary will be said at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Naylor-Quinn Chapel in Scammon. The body will arrive here from Kansas City Tuesday afternoon.6 She was buried on 28 October 1953 at St Bridget's Cemetery, Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas.2
