Susan Eckles

     Susan Eckles was born in 1837.¹ She was the daughter of George Eckles and Agnes Ferry.²

Susan was enumerated with Agnes Ferry on the census of 6 June 1841 at Duntocher, Old Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire, Scotland, as Susannah Ferry. She is a 6 year old female born circa 1835 in Ireland.³

Susan was enumerated with Michael O'Hara on the census of 30 March 1851 at No. 10, Provenhall, Shettleston, Lanarkshire, Scotland, as Susan Oharra. She is a 15 year old female born circa 1836 in Ireland. She is enumerated as a daughter.⁴

Susan Eckles married Hugh O'Hara, son of Patrick O'Hara and Jane Wallace, on 25 August 1859 at Eastmuir by Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, other participants were Mary Eckles.

Susan was enumerated with Hugh O'Hara on the census of 7 April 1861 at Provenhall, Shettleston, Lanarkshire, Scotland, as Susan Oharra. She is a 25 year old female born circa 1836 in County Donegal, Ireland. She is enumerated as a wife.⁵

Susan Eckles died on 6 September 1864 at New Kilpatrick, Dumbarton, Scotland; 6 September, 1864, Death record of Susan O'Hara, married to Hugh O'Hara, Coalminer, died at Row, Blairdardie, Parish of New Kilpatrick, age 28 years, a daughter of George Eckles field labourer deceased and Agnes Eckles, M.S. Ferrie,from explosion of gunpowder, 14 days; the informant is Bernard O'Hara, his mark, Uncle-in-law, not present.²
