Michael O'Hara

     Michael O'Hara was born in 1813 at County Antrim, Ireland.¹ He was the son of Terence O'Hara and Jane McGill.

Michael O'Hara married Agnes Ferry, daughter of Daniel Ferry and Mary Docherty, on 13 February 1841 at Old Kilpatrick, Dunbarton, Scotland.^1,2

Michael is head of household on the census of 30 March 1851 at No. 10, Provenhall, Shettleston, Larnarkshire, Ireland, as Michael Oharra. He is a 36 year old male born circa 1815 in Ireland. He works as a coal miner. Enumerated in the was also William Mack, a 46 year old coal miner born in Ireland circa 1805. He is a lodger. Also enumerated were Mary Swaney a 40 year old female born in Ireland circa 1811 and Francis Swaney, a 20 year old coal miner born in Ireland circa 1831. Enumerated with him were Agnes Ferry, Jane O'Hara, Susan Eckles and Mary Eckles.³

Michael is head of household on the census of 7 April 1861 at 58, Provenhall, Shettleston, Larnarkshire, Scotland, as Michael O'Harra. Michael is listed as 48 years old and was born in County Antrim, Ireland. He is a coal miner. Two lodgers are also present in this house; Peter Ramdels, a 17 year old miner born in glasgow and William Heigans, a n 18 year old miner born in Ayrshire. Enumerated with him were Agnes Ferry and Jane O'Hara.⁴

Michael O'Hara died on 25 March 1871 at Provenhall, Shettleston, Lanarkshire, Scotland; 25 Mar 1871, Death record or Michael O'Hara, Coal Miner, married to Agnes Ferrie at 2 AM at Provenhall, Shettleston, Lanark, age 46 years, a son of Terence O'Hara, Labourer, deceased and Jane O'Hara M.S. McGill, deceased of a compound fracture of the leg of ten days. The informant was Edward Hendrix, neighbor.⁵
