John Wilson

     John Wilson was born in 1821 at Ireland. He was the son of James Wilson and Jane Scott.¹

John Wilson married Mary Ann O'Hara, daughter of Terence O'Hara and Jane McGill, on 28 January 1867 at Barrhill, Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. Marriage at Barrhill, Cumnock, RC Forms, 28 January 1867, Mary Ann O'Hara (x), (widow), age 44, Dernconner, Auchinleck, her parents are Terence O'Hara Labourer (Decd.) and Jane McGill (Decd.). The groom is John Wilson (x) Miner (Widower), age 45, Commondyl Es, Auchinleck. His parents are James Wilson, Farmer (Decd.) and Jane Wilson M.S. Scott (Decd.). Signed John O. John is head of household on the census of 2 April 1871 at 160 Long Row, Auchinleck, Ayrshire, Scotland, as John Wilson. He is a 45 year old male born circa 1826 in Ireland. He is an iron stone miner. Also enumerated in the household is Michael Ryan, a 26 year old laborer at the iron works. He was born in Ireland and is enumerated as a boarder. Enumerated with him were Mary Ann O'Hara, Hugh Cain and Mary Irvine.²

John is head of household on the census of 3 April 1881 at 160 Long Row, Auchinleck, Ayrshire, Scotland, as John Wilson. He is a 60 year old male born circa 1821 in Ireland. He is an iron miner. Two boarders are enumerated in the household: Charles McConer, a 30 year old iron miner from Dumbartonshire and John Murray, a 30 year old iron miner from Lanarkshire. Enumerated with him were Mary Ann O'Hara.³

He is a retired coal miner. Also enumerated in the household is a 65 year old boarder, Owen Lacey from Wicklow, Ireland. He is a coal miner. Enumerated with him were Mary Ann O'Hara.⁴
