Daniel Cain was born on 8 September 1855 at Limmond's Wynd, Wallacetown, Ayrshire, Scotland. The transcription for the this birth registration notes that Daniel is the 8th child born to his mother, Mary Ann O'Hara. Five boys are dead and one boy and one girl are living.1 He was the son of Hugh Cain and Mary Ann O'Hara.
