Leo Harrigan was born on 11 February 1901 at Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas.1,2 He was the son of Hugh Harrigan and Anna Marie McCormick. Leo Harrigan was baptized on 3 March 1901 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas.2
Leo was enumerated with Hugh Harrigan on the census of 15 April 1910 at Ross Twp, Cherokee County, Kansas, as Leo Harrigan. Leo is 9 years old and was born in Kansas. Both of his parents were born in Scotland.3 Leo Harrigan was employed by the P&M Coal Mining Company between 1929 and 1963 at Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas.1
Leo Harrigan married Juanita Sharp on 3 November 1933.1 In 26 November 1938 Leo Harrigan lived at Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas.4 In 12 October 1939 Leo Harrigan lived at Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas.5
The Scammon paper reports the following garden news: While in the east part of town one day last week we saw Leo Harrigan's cotton crop. While he has not a large number of stalks but it is cotton. He says not much cotton is grown this far north. For those who have not seen cotton grow it would be worth your time to stop at Leo's home and look it over. Leo is one of the best gardners in Scammon.6

The plot of ground is not large, but it is cultivated on an intensified local.7 In 11 September 1941 Leo Harrigan lived at Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas.8

An obituary was in the Columbus newspaper: Leo Harrigan, 74, of Scammon, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Maude Norton Memorial Hospital in Columbus at 5:15 p.m. Saturday following an apparent heart attack at his home. He was born Feb. 11, 1901 in Scammon and lived his entire life in Scammon. He was employed by the P&M Coal Mining Company for 34 years before retiring in 1963. He married Juanita Sharp Nov 3, 1933. He was a veteran of WW1 and a member of St. Bridget's Church in Scammon.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, district 14 and a member of the American Legion Post in Weir. He is survived by the widow of the home and one sister Mrs. Loretta Wright of Letchers, South Dakota. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Naylor Chapel in Weir by the Rev. John Zich. Burial will be in St. Bridget's Catholic Cemetery in Scammon with military graveside rites by the Weir American Legions Post. Naylor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and burial. Rosary services will be held 7:45 o'clock tonight at the Naylor Chapel.9 He was buried on 2 December 1975 at St. Bridget's, Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas.1
