Marriage bond 21 Oct 1833 Patrick County VA named her father as Edward Philpott. Her mother's surname may be Turner (A.G.Lewis recollection recorded by Mrs. Hazel Lewis). According to Moncello Newman Gray, her aunt Nellie Newman Jacobs had said that the Philpott family had been Catholic missionaries sent to the Vesta area when it was still 'Masonville' (recorded September, 1994, by Robert Lewis).¹
