     Aubrey Gordon Lewis was born on 22 April 1880 at Vesta, Patrick County, Virginia. He was the son of Martin Elkanah Lewis and Letitia A. Mason.

Aubrey was enumerated with Letitia A. Mason on the census of 16 June 1900 at Smith River District, Patrick County, Virginia, as Aubry G. Lewis. He is a 20 year old single white male born Apr 1880 in Virginia as were both of his parents. He is a farm laborer and can read and write.³

Aubrey Gordon Lewis married Laura Belle Justice on 17 April 1902 at Patrick County, Virginia.

Aubrey was widowed by the death of Laura Belle Justice on January 1903.

Enumerated with him were India Ada Melinda Agee, Clarence Monroe Lewis, Grace Mary Lewis, Harold Wilson Lewis, Edna Letitia Lewis, Russell Thomas Lewis and Virginia Lillian Lewis.⁶

Aubrey Gordon Lewis died on 2 February 1960 at White Salmon, Klickitat County, Washington, at age 79.

An obituary was in The Enterprise: RITES HELD FOR A.G. LEWIS Aubrey Gorden Lewis was born in Vesta, Virginia on April 22, 1880. He married India Agee, March 16, 1905 in Meadows of Dan, Virginia and they moved to Glenwood in 1908.He bought 80 acres of brush and timber from the state and cleared and improved the land. Over the years he operated grocery stores in Centralia, Glenwood and Bingen. In 1948 he sold the ranch and retired to Bingen. He passed away at Skyline Hospital in White Salmon on February 2. In April of this year he would have been 80 years of age.He is survived by his wife India and three sons, Clarence of Glenwood, Wash., Harold of Bingen, Washington, Russell of American Lake; and five daughters; Mrs. Henry Ladiges Jr., of Glenwood, Mrs. M.J. O'Grady of Hermiston, Oregon, Mrs. Verley Woosley of Hood River, Mrs. W.M. Davis of Glenwood, Washington and Mrs. Walter Kidd of Portland, Oregon and 17 grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Elmer and a sister, Mrs. Jettie Newman, both of Vesta, Virginia.
The funeral was held last Friday, February 5 at Gardners; burial was at the Glenwood cemetery and Kenneth O. Shellbach officiated.⁷
