Another obituary was in the Pittsburg newspaper: The first fatality growing out of the strike of employees of the Chevrolet-Fisher body plant at Leeds, Mo., occurred today when John Harrigan, 40, a striker, died in a hospital with mennigitis, induced physicians said, by a blow on the head. Harrigan, police said was struck on the head in fight between workers and strikers near the motor car plant early Thursday morning. He was a metal finisher at the body plant. The body plant was idle today due to the regular Saturday shutdown and activities of strikers were at a standstill.
Mr Harrigan, 40, was a brother of Bernard Harrigan, Pittsburg, commissioner for the Southwestern Interstate Coal Operators Association. The body will brought here tomorrow. Mr Harrigan was born Sept. 11, 1888, in Scammon. He was employed for a number of years as a coal miner for the Central Coal & Coke Company. He went to Kansas City about six or seven years ago, where he was employed by the Fisher Body Company. Mr. Harrigan had been ill but three days. He died at 9:30 o'clock this morning. In addition to the brother here, Mr Harrigan is survived by the widow, Mrs. Beulah Harrigan; two sons, John, eighteen of Scammon, and Morris, sixteen; his parents, Mr and Mrs Hugh Harrigan of Scammon; five sisters, Mrs Elizabeth Carlson of Scammon; Mrs Nellie Priddy of Coffeyville, Mrs Mary Nevins and Mrs Loretta Wright, both of Kansas City, and Mrs Blanche Browning of Wichita, and five other brothers, Dan Harrigan and Leo Harrigan of Scammon; Edward Harrigan of Kansas City, Angelo Harrigan of Collinsville, Ill., and Joe Harrigan of Kansas City. the body is expected to arrive here about noon tomottow. It will be taken to Gees Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.9

It is reported that strike breakers attacked him, giving him a terrible beating, causing his death later. He was formerly a resident of Scammon for many years previous to moving to Girard and moved to Kansas City about two years ago from there. He is survived by a wife and two sons of the home. His parents reside on a farm near Corona. The funeral was held in Pittsburg.12
