An obituary was in the Pittsburg newspaper: David Ghilino Sr., 78, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Mt Carmel Medical Center. He had been a patient at the hospital for one week and been in ill health for the past two years. Mr Ghilino was born Aug 15, 1899, in West Mineral. He worked in the coal mines for 35 years before becoming a pipe fitter for construction in 1941 until he was disabled in 1959. He was married to Philomena Harrigan at East Mineral, Kan., on July 14, 1924. He lived with his wife in the Cherokee area for 45 years. He was a member of the St Anastasia's Catholic Church in Cherokee and also a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local No 165 in Topeka. Survivors include his wife, of the home in Cherokee; one son, David Ghilino, Shawnee; one sister, Mrs Maggie Castagno, Heritage Nursing Home-Girard; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St Anastasia's Catholic Church at Cherokee with the Rev Leo Metko as the celebrant. Burial will be in the St Bridget's Catholic Cemetery in Scammon. A parish rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Naylor Funeral Home in Weir.2 He was buried on 29 March 1978 at St Bridget's Cemetery, Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas.2
