Philomena Harrigan was born on 28 February 1906 at nr Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas.1 She was the daughter of Hugh Harrigan and Lillian May Stoker.
Philomena was enumerated with Lillian May Stoker on the census of 15 March 1920 at Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas, as Philomena Harrigan. Philomena is a 13 year old single white female. She was born in Kansas as were both of her parents.2
Philomena Harrigan married David Ghilino Sr on 14 July 1924 at West Mineral, Cherokee County, Kansas.3 Philomena Harrigan was employed for many years at Ascanio Grocery Store, Cherokee, Cherokee County, Kansas.4
Philomena Harrigan died on 12 January 1983 at Sunset Manor Nursing Home, Frontenac, Crawford County, Kansas, at age 76.1
An obituary was in the Pittsburg newspaper: Philomena Ghilino, 76, Cherokee, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 1983 at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home. She had been a resident there the past nine months. Mrs Ghilino was born Feb 28, 1906, in Scammon to Hugh and Lillian Stoker Harrigan. On July 14, 1924, she married David Ghilino. He died in 1978. Mrs Ghilino had lived in Cherokee since 1932. She was a member of St Anastasia's Catholic Church in Cherokee. survivors include a son, David Ghilino of Shawnee; a brother, Hugh Harrigan of rural Weir; four sisters, Anna O'Neil and Josephine Clasby both of Kansas City. Evelyn Haggerty of Raytown, Mo., and Gertrude McKenna of Frontenac; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Requiem Mass was said at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St Anastasia's Catholic Church with the Rev Michael O'Malley as celebrant. The parish rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Naylor Funeral Home in Weir. Burial was in Scammon.5 She was buried on 15 January 1983 at St Bridget's Cemetery, Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas.1
