     Daniel O'Hara was born circa July 1834 at Magheragh, Drummaul, County Antrim, Ireland.1,2 He was the son of Owen O'Hara and Isabella McCashin. Daniel O'Hara was baptized on 6 July 1834 at St MacNissis Catholic Church, Randalstown, Drummaul, County Antrim, Ireland.2

Daniel was enumerated with Owen O'Hara on the census of 30 March 1851 at Whitletts, St. Quivox, Ayrshire, Scotland, as Daniel O'Hara. Daniel is unmarried and 15 years old. He is indicated as a coalminer apprentice.
Daniel O'Hara witnessed the marriage of Patrick Reiley and Mary Ann O'Hara on 20 April 1857 at Salliento, Ardrossen, Ayr, Scotland; 20 Apr 1857 at Salliento, Ardrossen, County Ayr, marriage after banns, according to the forms of the Roman Catholic Chruch, Patrick O'Reilly, witnesses William Killinne and Dan O'Hara, the groom is a bachelor, age 21, Collier, residing at Stevenston, a son of John Reilly. labourer, and Margaret Reilly, her maiden name, Reilly, and he's wed to Mary O'Hara, her witnesses: William Killine and Dan O'Hara, and she is 19 years old, resides at Stevenston, and is a spinster, and a daughter of Owen O'Hara, Collier and Isabella O'Hara, whose maiden name is MacKasken (deceased), witnesses Dan O'Hara and Susan O'Hara.3,4

Daniel O'Hara married Hannah Doherty on 9 May 1860 at Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, other participants were Catherine O'Hara and Hugh O'Hara. On the 9th day of May, 1860 at Cumnock, married (after banns) was solemnised between us according to the forms of the Roman Catholic Church: Daniel O'Hara, his mark, miner, bachelor, age 25; Resident Linwood Parish, Kilbarchen Father Owen O'Hara, miner and Mother Isabella McCashan, dec. and Hannah Doherty, her mark,, piecer, spinster, 21 years old Father Gerald Doherty, farmer, dec and Mother Sarah Doherty. Daniel was enumerated with Owen O'Hara on the census of 7 April 1861 at Provenhall, Shettleston, Lanarkshire, Scotland, as Daniel O'Hara. Daniel is 22 years old and is married. He is a coalminer and was born in County Antrim, Ireland.6
