Desendants of Terence O'Hara
     Owen O'Hara was born circa 1806 at County Antrim, Ireland.1 He was the son of Terence O'Hara and Jane McGill.

Owen O'Hara married Isabella McCashin on 2 November 1828 at St MacNissis Catholic Church, Randalstown, County Antrim, Ireland. There is an entry at the Scottish Records Office for a marriage of Owen O'Hara and Sarah McCafferty dated 14 Sep 1851 in Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland. The witnesses are William McClernon & Elizabeth McQuillan. This may or may not be Owen O'Hara, widower of Isabella McCashin. I have seen no other references to this marriage.2,3

Owen is head of household on the census of 30 March 1851 at Village of Whitletts, St. Quivox, Ayrshire, Scotland, as Owen O'Hara. Owen is 45 years old and indicated as a widower. His occupation is a coal miner and he was born in Ireland. Enumerated with him were Bernard McCormick, Mary Ann O'Hara, Catherine O'Hara, Agnes O'Hara, Daniel O'Hara and Ellen O'Hara.

Owen O'Hara is recorded as the informant on the death certificate of Hugh Cain, who died on 1 December 1855 at Wallacetown, Newton-On-Ayr, Ayr, Scotland;

1855, Deaths Burgh Ayr, County Ary, Kean Hugh Jobbing labourer, male 45 yr born Co. Antrim 14 years in this district, his father was Hugh Kean, labourer and mother was Mary Kean, maiden name Murphy. Wife's name: Mary Harrow, children: Jane, 14 yr., Hugh 6 years, Terrence and John 2 years both dead, Samuel 15 mos dead and Daniel, 10 weeks, Hugh died Dec. 1 1855, 9PM at Simmond's Wyne, Wallacetown. Cause of death was morbus cordis for years as testified by J.L. Crowford, MD who last saw him 30 Nov. 1855. Burial at Wallacetown Church Yard. Informant Owen O'Hara, brother-in-law. Reg. Dec. 3 1855 at Ayr.4

Owen is head of household on the census of 7 April 1861 at Provenhall, Shettleston, Lanarkshire, Scotland, as Owen O'Hara. Owen is indicated as 55 years of age and a widow. He was born in County Antrim, Ireland and is a coalminer. In the household is James Preston, 40 years old and born circa 1821 in County Antrim , Ireland. He is enumerated as a lodger and a coal miner. Enumerated with him were Catherine O'Hara, Hannah Doherty, Daniel O'Hara and Terence Higgins.5

Owen O'Hara died on 27 February 1867 at 45 Dernconner, Parish of Auchinleck, Scotland; Cause of death is indicated as "dropsy" and the informant is Hugh Kean, nephew. Owen O'Hara is noted as the widower of Isabella McCashany.6
