Patrick Masterson died on 8 February 1930 at Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas, at age 79.2 He was buried on 10 February 1930 at St Bridget's Cemetery, Scammon, Cherokee County, Kansas.2
An obituary was in the Columbus newspaper: Patrick Masterson 79, early settler in Scammon and retired coal miner died about 10:00 Saturday morning at his home in Scammon. Mr. Masterson was born October 15,1850 in Ireland. He had lived in Scammon for fifty-three years. Surviving relatives are two sons. Francis Masterson of Scammon and William living in Oklahoma and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:00 Monday morning at the Catholic church in Scammon, with the Rev. J. O'Leary in charge. Burial was in St. Bridget's cemetery.2
